Paying for Care

Usually the decision about care comes at a point of crisis, you or a family member have come to a point when being home alone is no longer an option. Either you are going to arrange for care to be provided at home or a residential/nursing home needs to be found. Due to the urgency of this the significance of how you pay for this long term is often overlooked.

Once appropriate care has been found many individuals improve and can live an enjoyable life for several years. Often much longer than expected, this can be financially draining if longevity has not been seriously considered.

You may not realise that there are options when it comes to making a provision to pay for care. Most people pay for care by drawing down from savings, but with low interest rates assets can be eroded very quickly.

How we can help

We understand that this is a highly emotional time when the priority is to obtain the best care possible. Whilst you concentrate on dealing with this we will look at the financial implications.

  • We are experts in advising older people and their families on financial matters
  • We have the specific qualifications which allows us to advise on later life options
  • We have achieved the Highest Standard for advice in the later life market
  • We appreciate that some needing care may not be in the best of health, are likely to be considered ‘vulnerable’ and will require information in a different way. We have the skills to help these people understand, we have oodles of patience and are happy to explain options in various ways to aid comprehension.
  • We are accredited members of the Society of Later Life Advisers (SOLLA)*

*SOLLA was established in 2008 as a not for profit organisation dedicated to higher standards and accessibility to regulated financial advice for older people and their families.  There are no shareholders and any profit is used to sustain the Society and its objectives. The society is recognised and recommended by Which?

We will:

  • Review all the options available to pay for the care
  • Recommend the best option/s for your situation
  • Take care of all the necessary paperwork
  • Ensure that the carer or home receives regular payments

We will provide you with the financial certainty that the cost of care is covered so that you can relax, make the most of the situation and take comfort in the knowledge that you have done your best.
